Phillips down 0-2 as often happens. But his stroke looks a lot better these days.

I agree. He's matured as a hitter the past few years. He still adjusts to his batting order position though unfortunately.

Wow. Nice play. It was close, but that was one heck of a play! Barehanded play with a rifle throw from Harrison. Impressive.

Phillips, like Votto, is quite good at fouling off two strike pitches. It saves him as a hitter because he gets behind in the count so much.

If only Drew Stubbs could learn to foul off those pitches, he hardly ever does it.

Nice play by Harrison to throw out Phillips on weak grounder. Nice leather by Bucs that inning.

I thought Brandon would be safe on that but ground out to short. 4-0 Reds mid 5th.

I think that's why Brandon hits into double plays fairly often. He doesn't get a great break out of the box. A better break from home plate, he might have beaten that one out.

That was an awesome still frame on Bailey's splitter.

Stubbs keeping Homer's straight-retired streak alive
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Don't know if anyone else agrees, but Stubbs is playing much better CF defensively this year. He is handling the wall better out there and he is making more catches coming in after the ball. He's always been good going side to side.

IMO he can't hit much, but Drew is a good CF and is improving.
