The Blaze have a chance in their game against the Modesto Nuts because it's tied and hasn't started yet. It's Josh Smith against Juan Gonzalez, who isn't very good.

The Blue Wahoos lead the Jacksonville Suns 6-4 as they go into the top of the 8th. Tim Crabbe got the start and gave up 2 runs in 5 innings. Clayton Tanner gave up the other two runs., and now Justin Freeman is in to try and preserve the lead.

There was, at least, a nice takeaway in the Dayton game--another promising start for Jacob Johnson: 6 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 7 K. Good to see the strikeouts up. That's what he was lacking in his previous starts, although he was effective. For me, his strong return is one of the subtle highlights of the season so far.

Poor Justin Freeman gave up a late lead for the second night in a row. Pensacola loses 9-6.

I was at the game tonight in Bowling Green. He did look pretty decent although I would like to see some of the hits come down, but hopefully that will just come with some more starts after the injury that he had.

What killed the Dragons tonight were there errors. Specifically throwing balls over to first base to get the outs. There were at least 2 of them that really cost and hurt Dayton.

Hamilton so far: 1 for 2 with a BB and another SB. The BB was his 29th of the season and moves him up to 11.7% on the season, tied for fourth in the league. His K rate is now 16.1%.

Check that: Hamilton is now 2 for 3, with a 1B and a 3B, his league-leading 9th of the season. He's been on base three our of four times up tonight.

Josh Smith had a dreadful start to the season, so it's nice to see him turn it around. I still think he's a relief pitching candidate down the line.

    His last 6 starts:
    35.1 IP
    35 SO
    9 BB
    29 H
    1.075 WHIP
    2.55 ERA

I agree with you on him being a reliever down the line and I think he might make a fine 7th inning guy too.
