The Reds, just today, have been linked to 6 different players. It will be wide open.

That's my thought too. I don't remember them being linked to Leake, Grandal or Stephenson. There was some talk about Alonso, if I recall correctly. The Reds, just today, have been linked to 6 different players. It will be wide open.
Good points.
There was some late chatter about Grandal and Stephenson IIRC. I specifically remember on the draft telecast last year strong speculation that the Reds would either pick Daniel Norris or Stephenson, especially after those two slid out of the top 20.
Grandal IIRC was pegged to the Royals (at #4) right up until draft day, but that rumor turned out to be false. The Reds were said to have liked him but didn't believe he'd fall to them.
There was very little chatter about Leake to the Reds. Most people thought we'd opt for Aaron Crow that year.

Bad news from Keith Law:
Beau (NOLA)
Klaw, as a Reds fan, what do you think the best outcome could be at 14? Was very pleased with Giolito in your latest mock.

Then I'm sorry to report they're not taking him.

This seems like an appropriate place to put this. Here are the slot values for the first 338 picks.
I'd be happy with almost anyone mentioned so far as a serious candidate for the Reds. Personally I want a hitter but pitching IS the name of the game, so I'm not moaning if they think Giolito is healthy and he falls to them. Marrerro is about the only pick I'd be a bit unhappy about, I just think he's more a mid twenties or early thirties type of pick and Cozart is young with Gregorious right behind him. I'd prefer a masher like Shaffer or an electric arm like Giolito, or if they want an athletic tollsy type with more upside, imo, than Marrero - Piscotty.
I'm holding out hope for Hawkins.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
Yeah - my biggest concern with prospects after seeing so many tantalizing guys fall flat because they fail those acid tests. I'm burned on high strikeout, low contact, low OBP hacksters. On the other hand guys like Stephen Piscotty you worry if they'll develop home run power to go with those contact skills and good pitch recognition. 7pm is coming so slowly.
The good news is I trust Buckley and co. as much as I've ever trusted the drafting regime of a team I like (in any sport). The bad news is the Reds are due for a bust and I just praised them, so I hope I didn't jinx anything.
Go BLUE!!!
