This is the most wide open draft in recent memory. Can't wait to watch it unfold in a few hours.

Let's play a quick game/quick intra-thread poll for those of us who can't wait until 7pm:

Who is your best case and your worst case for the Reds at 14?

Best Case: Giolito, Fried, Hawkins (in that order)
    Worst Case: Marrero

    Ben (New York)

Could you clarify why you had the Reds taking Giolito in your latest mock draft (at 2:56) but by 3:15 you said it's not happening (in this chat)?

    Klaw (4:19 PM)

That mock was filed at 2 am.

    Best: Giolito
Worst: I'm blocking that out of my mind. Happy thoughts only.

Well, this is both good and bad:

    John (OH)

    Reds news worth mentioning?

    Klaw (4:26 PM)

Have just heard they're out on two guys they've been linked to recently, Marrero and Giolito.

I think he is worth a shot based on the Stanton comparison alone.
Do I need to scout this guy?

This seems like an appropriate place to put this. Here are the slot values for the first 338 picks.
I suspect this will speed up the signing process just like it did with the NFL. They were talking about changing the Aug 15th deadline. Did that happen?

Yes- it was moved up dramatically, to July 13th.

As per Walker after watching his film, reading his reports I don't know that I'd risk any of three top picks for him but if he fell to 78 then I think I'd pull the trigger.

Just off the cuff the funnest name in the draft this year has to go to Skye Bolt, the HS outfielder ranked in the last 25 or so of the top 100.

I kinda like Max Fried. Has a very Cheech and Chong feel to it.
Zero chance the Reds miss the playoffs!
