Also, an AJC blog is indicating that Kyle Wren, son of Braves G.M. Frank Wren will not be signing, but will instead return for his junior season at Geoge Tech.

Yes. It's noted earlier in the thread.

It's nowhere near official, but Adam Matthews said he'd like to sign after the College World Series. Jeremy Kivel officially committed to Hill Community College (not that that necessarily means anything).

Reds sign Daniel Pigott for 40,000. His draft cap was 125,000.

Nice deal for the Reds. He probably didn't have a ton of leverage. Maybe they manage to sign a guy or two that they might not have with some of the savings they've had. I like Pigott's potential.

Are you sure? The first page of this thread says it's $136,300?

BA had it at $127,300. It was 136,300 for the Reds pick before him.

What's up with Kivel (10th pick), Boyd (13th) and Ortiz (17th)? I figure Kivel will go to college, but what about Boyd and Ortiz? What's the holdup with them?

Re: 2012 Official Draft Picks and Signings

Everytime I see a new post in this thread, I'm hoping it's something about Gelalich, Amaral or one of the other un-signed guys coming to terms. It's falsely getting my little hopes up.

Could we leave this thread for that purpose and move this discussion to another thread please?

I agree. Please keep this thread for news related specifically to player signings and move discussion to other threads, just to keep things streamlined.

    Thanks!

Re: 2012 Official Draft Picks and Signings

    From the Reds:
The Reds have signed first-round draft pick RHP Nick Travieso, who was selected with the 14th pick overall out of Archbishop McCarthy High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

It seems you guys already had it as a done deal with the dollar amounts too. But Fay just posted this this morning. So it's official now.

It's not official until Fay writes about it while misspelling a few things.

So, once you hear Nic Traveiso has signed, we'll know it's a done deal.

Re: 2012 Official Draft Picks and Signings

But seriously guys, what are we hearing about Kivel (10th pick), Boyd (13th) and Ortiz (17th)? Those are the remaining unsigned guys where it's taking much longer than it should. I'm guessing Kivel will go to college, but what about the other two guys? Or do we have a shot at Kivel too? Reds surprised everyone last year by getting Romano and Garrett to sign.
