Seems like he's going to sign.

Buckley also notes he believes Rahier will eventually have to move off of SS.

It's absolutely stunning that he fell that far, especially with such a strong need for third baseman at the big league level. It's the pick that could define the Reds' 2012 draft.

    Re: Tanner Rahier

I'm blown away by this pick. I saw Rahier still on the board but thought for sure there must be a signability issue or something to fall that far. Then the Reds tapped him and everyone says he wants to play and is thrilled the Reds grabbed him. This is exactly like getting 4 first round picks because this kid is a definite first round talent. Wow!

Leave him at shirt until he has to be moved but with Rosa, Vidal, Rodriguez and Rahier third is not going to be a problem in the future. If Tanner could stay at short? That could just boggle the mind - Votto, Ryan Wright, Rahier and Rosa/Vidal in 2018.

I just wanna stop in and say I just got a chance to watch his tape, and boy is his swing beautiful. I remember talking about how I could watch Cingrani's motion all day, and its the same with this kid's swing.

Off to a great start with the AZL Reds (he's their 3-hole hitter). To see his stats, follow the link below. I also like that the Reds didn't mess around with him defensively. They know he'll be a third baseman if he makes it to MLB and that's the position he's playing.

Looks like he might have been one hell of a steal in the second round (as many said as soon as he was drafted).

Really early, but Ty Washington is another youngster off to a hot start. Signed really late last year and kind of a sleeper this year.

Looks like an athletic kid. I liked his swing and speed from the little that I was able to see last year after the draft.

I first assumed the HR was an ITP HR...but I'm resigned to the fact it went over the fence after the description on MILB.

    Re: Tanner Rahier

Both Rahier and Washington are listed as SS on MiLB. What positions are they really playing?

Rahier 3rd, Washington 2nd. They've had their 12th rounder, Brent Peterson, at SS most of the time.

I hope this guy develops into what he can be. Looks like a monster right now and the steal of the draft potentially.

@keithlaw: Tanner Rahier had to be helped off the field after he took a ball to the head off Soler's bat

@keithlaw: Yes "@gardner_21: @keithlaw was he playing third?"
