Robles has settled down nicely, giving up just one hit in the next three innings. Dayton offense snoozing. 2-0 still.

And the really sad thing for Bats fans is (unless Jocketty can bring in some solid AAAA-types over the winter) there isn't much that's gonna change offensively for a season or two. Maybe Rodriguez, Gregorious, LeMarre and Parrish next year, but nothing too exciting. The pitching staff should be fairly solid though.

The kid pitching vs. Bakersfield tonight is Andrew Chafin. He's a LH and is from Western Reserve high school about an hour south of Cleveland. He played at Kent State and was a 1st round pick of the Diamond Backs last year. The kid is going to be good. He throws in the mid 90's and is 3-1 with a 3.57 ERA so far this year. 82 SO in 63 innings. Ive been following him since his college days, and will continue to root for him. The kid can pitch. I hope to see him in the bigs some day.

Through six innings in the nightcap there has been exactly one hit. It belongs to Neftali Soto. Unfortunately, he has been the Bats only baserunner. Syracuse has five walks.

Update: With two outs in the top of the seventh Syracuse gets their first hit.

Dayton wins 5-2. Robles wobbled in the first but straightened himself out and pitched six strong. Dennhardt with two shutout frames. Ryan Kemp earned the save with a scoreless ninth.
Dayton had seven hits, five in a four-run fourth. Joe Terry had two doubles.

After six 2/3s hitless innings, Syracuse gets a double, an intentional walk and a single to grab a 1-0 lead. They are on the verge of scoring 3 runs and winning both ends of a double header.

In an oddity, Syracuse was the home team in game one and Louisville was the home team in game two. In 13 innings the Bats have scored one run on six hits.
