Those aren't bad odds if you believe in BABIP.

Swinging at the first pitch and missing badly is a bad thing. Swinging and putting it in play is not so bad.
Exactly. Sometimes the best pitch to hit that you get IS the first pitch. It's not always a good thing to "work the count" if it means you let the hittable pitch sail past.

    Marshall in btw.

Great job by Latos tonight. He looked like the guy I saw for the Padres tonight.

    Kipnis grounds out to 2nd.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Frazier boots a groundball by Santana who reaches on the E.

    1 on, 1 out.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Hitters often get credit for "working the count" when they swing and miss often.

Frazier isn't all that strong at 3B, is he?

I'm pretty sure Frazier's offense has offset any negative defensive value so far.

He got ate up there but I think he's been passable at 3B over the past month.

I'm surprised that Rolen doesn't let Frazier use his glove if it makes that much of a difference.

He must be quite the meany.

He's about average. That one was a bad hop IMO. He'll improve with reps as I've said before. At least that's my take.

I'd agree with that. As bad as Rolen has been offensively, we have been pretty spoiled by his defense the past few years over at third.
