Bruce linedrive sac fly to RF. 3-1 Reds.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Dang. Jay smoked that ball, but right at the RF'er.
    2014 predictions:
99-63 WS champs (Cards take 2nd WC, Mil 3rd, Pit 4th, Chi 5th)
Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner
    Hamilton ROY & GG

    Frazier flies out to center.

    3-1 Reds after 5.

Be happy the run scored, the ball wasn't hit that deep.

    Three down.

True. But Heisey was on third, he's got good enough wheels, I wasn't that concerned.

70% of line drives are hits, and that one was smoked.

    The run scored easily.

The only luck there belonged to the Indians.

6 walks, a hbp, and 3 hits off of Lowe through 5...and we've only got 3 runs. I hope that doesn't come back to haunt us.

Sixth inning is Latos' nemesis ... Hope he overcomes it tonight.

Agree. And Choo has a gun, but no play on Heisey. The ball was smoked and plenty deep.

    Santana doubles to right.

If only we had guys who could get on base.
Sabermetrics can be boiled down to this simple truism: A batter's goal is to extend the inning. Extend enough innings and you're going to score runs. Extend more innings than your opponent and you're going to score more runs than him.

Brantley grounds out to 1st, Santana moves to 3rd.

Damon grounds out to 2nd, no play but at first.

    3-2 game.
