Will they sing "god save the queen" before the game and will Dave neilson throw out the first pitch?

Don't like it. Didn't like it when they opened in Japan several years ago.

If they must open overseas Australia is a great choice. A baseball mad nation with a solid league of their own. MLB essentially funds the ABL so I'm surprised this didn't happened sooner.

It's one series, doesn't affect a team in the Reds division and advertises the game.

    What's not to like?

So, if I want to watch the first game of the season I'll have to wake up at 5 am again?

I liked it better when the first pitch of the season was thrown out in Cincinnati. That was a nice little tradition. A nod to history and a celebration of the greatest opening day atmosphere in all of American sports.

But, what's tradition and history to someone like Bud Selig?

Then again, I'm extremely and unrelentingly biased.

I wonder what the dimensions of the playing field will be.

Will it feature Ian Kennedy beaning several Dodgers?
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

I love the Reds and am glad they always get to open at home. The nod to history that let them have the first game was a false one, though. Today's Reds are the first professional franchise in the same way that the Cleveland Browns are the original Cleveland Browns. The Reds are spiritual heir to that tradition to be certain, but the original Red Stockings left Cincinnati before they even left infancy.

I'm all for it. Would love to see our Redlegs in one of these type games someday.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

Will they run the bases backwards?

Kind Bud is nothing more than a shill for the owners. I'll be happy when he's gone.

I hope the teams get a couple days off after getting back to the states. A 20 hour plane ride can screw with your body clock.
