Latos is league average. Maybe slightly above. Most teams would kill to have Boxberger, Grandal and Alonso. Volquez and Latos are a wash right now. Face it. The trade was a bust.
Mat doesn't get on my nerves as much as Volquez. He atleast doesn't have the control problems. That being said, yes so far the trade has been a bust. The reds tend to win his starts so that helps the situation though

Rolen. Atleast his defense is gold glove quality. Damon has one of the weakest outfield arms in baseball

They both should be forced to retire.

good play by Mat -- plus he's hanging in there so far & doesn't look flustered.

Okay. Five runs won't be enough either. I am out of the prediction business for the rest of the night.

It reminds me of the conversation I had earlier about Encarnacion. The Reds shipped him off as a 26 year old, and many fans had already given up on him. It was just easy to get discouraged about a guy who had hit .289 with 16 HR and 76 RBI as a 24 year old and then regressed.
I agree. I don't like to give up on players who are under age 27 who have already had "some" successful seasons in the league. The potential for one or two excellent seasons at the age 27 and age 28 seasons to happen are just too possible. Latos will have some outstanding seasons in the future and it's likely he's going to be a RED when it happens. Pitchers are always a risk. They are fluky by nature.

Great stuff bad plate control. He gets tattoo'd way to much. Especially in the post-steroid era, strikeouts are less important than plate control. Gotta control that plate and get softer contact.
