His three hits: line drive, grounder, grounder.

    That is good, right?

That's a heck of a debut. Great work. Even had 3 errors behind him, so he had some extra work to do.
If he did that with a working changeup, I'd say every second spent in Arizona was worth it. Pretty smart idea to make sure he has all the tools in place before putting him into competition mode. Love it! So stoked to see him and Traveiso move up the system.

I listened. He was throwing the change up. Mostly using it as his third pitch, but he was using it often enough along with his curveball as his outpitch. I didn't keep pitch-by-pitch stats, but aside from his one walk, I don't recall him getting into trouble with the count at all and even that came on a full count.

His hit was an easy out had the shift not been on. He absolutely jammed the hitter who hit it off the handle at about 15 MPH on the ground to where the 3B would normally be playing.

In the Midwest League A-S game, Ryan Wright went 1-3 with an RBI for his East team, which won 18-2.

Hamilton was 1-5 with 2 SB for the California League all-stars, which lost to the Carolina League 9-1. He scored his team's only run by bunting for a hit to lead off the game, stealing second and third and coming home on a ground out.

Chad Rogers gave up a hit and run in one IP. Brian Pearl threw a scoreless two-thirds of an inning.

Nick Routt pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief for Billings, every out a K. Matt Wiley got the last out of the top of the 10th on a fine running catch in LF by Jesse Winker. Still 1-1.

Wagner Gomez reached on a one-out infield single and Brandon Dailey sent him to third on a nicely executed hit-and-run single.

Jon Matthews grounds a single through SS and Billings wins 2-1 in 10.

I got these two tweets last night from a fan who was at the game in Billings:

sat right behind home plate in Billings tonight.. Hand held radar gun on scout in front of me hit 96.. Stephenson was impressive

I thought Stephenson had nasty off speed stuff... Saw 79 on gun...lots of swings and misses...

Good article at the Billings Gazette on the game.

There is video at the link too.

Pat Kelly was very impressed with all of his pitches and talked about it in the postgame interview.
