I think that Donald Lutz might be a bit much for the Arizona League. His two-run triple in the first puts him at .545 in his rehab stint.

But alas, the Little Reds trail 8-3 in the second. The eight runs have come against Vaughn Covington. Only one of them is earned. The Reds have made five errors already, two by Covington himself and two by everybody's new favorite third baseman, Tanner Rahier.

Heading into the bottom of the ninth Pensacola trails 5-2. Woohoo offense has been almost non-existent. Four singles. Lamarre, Peacock, Vidal and Serrano. Pensacola pitchers have given up 12 hits and 7 walks but only 4 runs. Semi-impressive.

Update: One-out single by Brian Peacock brings the tying run to the plate. Peacock's second hit on the night.

Was at the game. Juan Perez hit the ball hard and walked a few times. His HR was ripped. Nick O'Shea playing 1b hit one into the Dragon's Den. First HR of the year. Stalin Gerson pitched 2-hit ball and only one was a real hit. The other was a blown call at first on a IF single.

Carlos Contreras in the 8th inning had them fooled. He pitched at 92, changeup at 81. He touched 97 mph. But in the ninth he couldn't fool anyone giving up the 2 tying runs. Although Miller should was charged for those runs... Cole Green walked in a couple of them.

Josh Smith gives up one run in the second and two in the third. Bakersfield now tied at 3. Travis Mattair is en fuego adding a double to his three-run jack. In his previous ten games he was OPSing .974. That's going up.

In Goodyear, Baby Reds now trail 9-7 after three. The rehabbin' contingent is getting it done. Lutz and Phipps are 4-4 between them. Phipps has homered.

Brennan May with another double. Now 4-4. Billings brought the heavy lumber tonight. They lead 9-5 after 7.5 innings. Four hits for May. Three for Winker. Two each for Diaz, Dickinson and Rosa. Winker on base all five times as he walked twice. Billings' 9-1-2-3-4 hitters have the following averages: .368-.350-357-.345-.344. That's a hitting gauntlet.

Well, Phipps made an out, but Lutz is now 3-3, needing a HR for the cycle. Reds trail 9-8 after four.

Jimmy Moran escapes bigger trouble (one run) and Billings takes a 9-6 lead into the ninth.

Travis Mattair with his third hit of the night. Steve Selsky 1-2 with a walk. He also threw out a runner at home. Game still tied at 3 in the seventh.

I know this is a little off topic, but does anyone expect Travieso to pitch any games in for the AZL Reds?
