I tend to agree. If anything the big plus is that there really doesn't seem to be any team (other than maybe the Reds) which is likely to run off and hide.

Pittsburgh's going to be around all year, but even losing ground to them isn't the worst thing in the world as I really don't fear them going on a 10 game winning streak while the Reds go 4 and 6.

After the Giants series things looked up. Now after 2 horrible games by the offense were looking at a trip gone bad if we don't turn things around. I say we win 3 of 4 in SD, and finish at 6-5. Im trying my hardest at being optomistic. At least after this trip Walt has to make a move for the top of the order right?

No reason for the Reds to have lost a series to a scuffling Dodgers team who are missing Kemp and Ethier.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

    Riiiiiiiiiiight ...

Waiting on Walt to make a mid-season move is like waiting at the pier in New York for the Titanic to arrive.

Other than they are in first place and are a major league baseball team...

Right about where I figured things would be at this point. Split with SF, drop 2 of 3 in Dodger (Reds' house of horrors). Now, let Mr. "Million Dollar Arm, Ten Cent Brain" Volquez walk half a dozen Reds tonight and we're back in business.

Can we implement the old Dan O'Brien "take a strike" rule for tonight?

Re: West Coast Swing, 2012 EDITION

Not having guys on base for Votto is just driving me nuts.

Put Stubbs at #8. I apreciate Dusty sticking with him, but he just isn't a top of the order hitter.

Put BP at leadoff and Cozart #2. Give Joey some RBI opportunities. Move Ludwig to cleanup. He's seeing the ball well. Frazier at #f gives some pop and OBP. Catcher at #7. Meseraco is showing grpwth at the plate and Hanigan is cooling but still decent.

Maximize your best hitter's chances for driving in runs.

Re: West Coast Swing, 2012 EDITION

Here's an off the wall idea:
    Cozart
    Bruce
    Votto
    Phillips
    Ludwick
    Frazier
    Catcher
    Heisey/Stubbs

    Or even (this won't happen):
    Hanigan
    Bruce
    Votto
    Phillips
    Ludwick
    Frazier
    Cozart
    Center Field

Really though, no matter what order you hit them, it's just shuffling deck chairs. This team needs an upgrade at CF and probably LF too.

Re: West Coast Swing, 2012 EDITION

The Reds better hope their pitching beats the Padres because their lineup has 2 players who play well in these west coast parks - Votto and Hanigan. The free swinging boom and miss style of the rest of these guys would fizzle like a bad firework out here. Look what it did to Ludwick. Pray for a couple runs somehow and great pitching.

Re: West Coast Swing, 2012 EDITION

Reds finish a decent west coast trip going 6-5, losing just 1/2 game to the Cards who finished a relatively easy 10 game home stand going just 6-4.

I think everyone here would have been delighted with such a result going in.

    Only 25% predicted better.

    Now, for those Pirates......

Wife got it right. Good job! Hard to argue w/ 6-5 on the worst RT of the year, regardless of what we felt while going thru it!
