The question surrounding Bailey is how much are you willing to pay the guy? He's under team control until 2015 but is it worth it to pay him 6-8 million for his production?

I'd like to see him about 60/40

Stubbs is 0 for his last 12.

Bailey started out the year decently, but has had nothing lately. Not a good sign.
    I guess we'll see

Heisey gives nothing to this team though, he doesn't hit for power or average and swings at the most asinine pitches you will ever see. He's also slower than dirt for a centerfielder and isn't a threat to steal any bases

Second look at BP hit by Pitch suggests he can act. Good play BP.

i think Larussa kinda threw the reds a bone for not getting Cueto or Phillips so people shouldn't be that upset with the man

Bailey is an adequate back of the rotation starter that give you consistently average production. His ERA is surprisingly consistent: 4.53, 4.46, 4.43, 4.42 (2009-2012). I like Bailey but he is not a playoff starter and I don't have a lot of confidence he will improve much from his current production.

Rolen is hurt again, and Stubbs is well...Stubbs again. Time for Wilson.

Posts like this are the problem. You are pegging Homer based on production, but not in health and real "stuff". Bailey when throws his real stuff is better than a back of the rotation starter. The point "why" we aren't getting this stuff consistantly has been misread as a learning problem. It is a physical problem. He just can't do it all the time. If Homer could go through a stretch of starts sitting at about 94mph with good breaking stuff then drop off to 92mph with no breaking stuff. Something is not right physically. At best it is a period of deadarm. At worst his shoulder has flared up again.

The guy has physical problems. He just may not be able to maintain his stuff starting.

Why don't pitchers that are batting .079 and have struck out 22 times in 32 at-bats try to bunt more often? What could it possibly hurt? Make the other team make a play at least.
