    Birthdays: 7/5

    Reds:

Gordy Coleman -Won the Southern League triple crown in 1959...I rememebr him running the Reds speaker's bureau for a number of years, and he also did some TV color commentary.

Hod Eller -Master of the "shine ball"; after such things were eliminated his career went downhill...With the 1919 world champions he was 19-9 and pitched two complete game victories in the World Series.

    Others:

Rich Gossage (61) -In 1981 the Goose only gave up 4 earned runs in the entire season- a 0.77 ERA...At age 42 he was still pitching successfully in Seattle's bullpen.

Gary Matthews (62) -The most similar player listed to Sarge is Dusty Baker; wonder whatever happened to that guy...

Curt Blefary -Nicknamed "Clank" because of his supposedly iron glove, but Curt actually holds a defense-related record; he participated in seven double plays in a nine-inning game. He was used as a catcher occasionally in his younger days, and caught a no-hitter thrown by Tom Phoebus in 1968...He died in 2001 and his ashes were scattered at old Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, per his request.

Bump Hadley -Bump threw the pitch that beaned and nearly killed Mickey Cochrane in 1937.
"In baseball, you don't know nothin'"...Yogi Berra

Adding Tony Cingrani (24) - You know his story.
