With all the doom and gloom here lately, (granted this team is somewhat flawed, but seems like there are no great NL teams this year so it's anybody's game ) I think it's pretty sweet that they have a chance for a winning road trip.

6-5 would be acceptable after all the nonsense since Sunday's 9th inning. But a lot of rationalizing going on here. With the lights out starting pitching this should have easily been a 7-4 or 8-3 trip.

Rolen is at his best on the days he returns from injury. In the bag. . . .

Flaws that are not helped when you have a manager who seems to base his decisions on some of the very worse flaws this team has. He helps it along.....makes the flaws more pronounced.

It was still illogical how Dusty handled Chapman in the 8th.

...and with all this, the team is still in second place behind an inferior club that refuses to lose with solid management. Ponder that.

Sometimes he has.....but Frazier should not sit beacuse of it. But Dusty has already laid the seed.....Frazier has really hit LHP very good lately....so I guess he will have to sit vs them tough RHP now.

Frazier to left and Scotty on third. Count on it.

47-37 would be nice at the break. Despite leaving 4-5 games on the table the last few weeks, the starting staff looks great going into the 2nd half and I am hopeful we've endured the worst 3 week stretch of the year from the pen.

    Marshall pitched great.

He got squeezed, and got 2 K's and 3 not particularly well hit singles.

Not much you can do about that.

Best we can do is 47-38. Not bad, though.

I wouldn't say Marshall pitched great, but he got squeezed for sure and had some bad luck. goota think he's used up most of his bad luck for the season.

Still has a 6 K/BB ratio but seems to not trust anything but his curve for an out pitch.

Guess I still don't think the Sunday "Barry/Bruce" loss really happened...

We are one game back with half a season to play.

If you look at the saber stats on the Pirartes they have been about the luckiest team in the majors this year.

We will go into the all star break ahead of the Cards.

We are 5-5 on the road trip in which many here felt would bury us forever.

It's getting so bad around here that winning 6-5 when our closer strikes out the side 1-2-3 isn't good enough.

Go back and look at the game and the number of seeing eye singles the Pads got.

Yet we still prevailed and never trailed.

When Stubbs scores we are 29-2.

The "Pirates refuse to lose" yet have one more win that us????????????

There is a collossal bunch of panties on this board getting themselves tied into a knot.

    Ponder that.
