I was reading somewhere that they switched it to Burnett on Sunday.

They just lost two, and are desperate for a win in this series, and their chances of getting a W with Bedard are pretty slim. So I'm figuring that's why AJ goes today.

They made the decision early in the week that Burnett was going to pitch.

Yeah, Burnett was scheduled to pitch several days before they landed in Cincinnati.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

Lineup coming shortly. Votto just hit back-to-back pitches 400-plus in early BP. I'm no doctor, but I'll play on Twitter: He's close. #reds

Think he goes out for a rehab assignment, or does he just go straight to the big league lineup??
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

I'd think after this long, they'd send him out for 2-3 days on a rehab assignment.

Forget the rehab assignment, just plug him right in.

I'm not sure what positives there are in rehab at this point in the season. If he's going to play, just pencil him in the lineup.
    Where we gonna go?

RT @jrbradley5 @johnfayman so when do you think he will be back?//I don't know. Baker says not on the trip.
Ugh, I was hoping to see him at Wrigley this weekend.

Anytime you're out a month or longer, it's not easy to just jump back in the lineup and get your timing back. Spending a few days in AAA would be a way to get timing back against big league-caliber velocity, while not hurting the Major League club in the process.

I'd say getting timing back while shaking off the rust is a big positive. It doesn't have to be a week, but a few days would help.

I miss Joey Votto. Nothing further to add.
Hugs, smiling, and interactive Twitter accounts, don't mean winning baseball. Until this community understands that we are cursed to relive the madness.

It looks likes time's up for the Votto-less Reds. Get well, get well soon, I want you to get well.

I'd say there is about a -2% chance you'll see Votto go on rehab.
