Guessing that Redmond is getting the call in case they need a long man, not to start. Simon's not available tonight. #Reds

Wouldn't be surprised if it is a one day call up just in case Cueto can't go, or blister acts up.

I tend to agree but after yesterday's "it's a scheduled day off" to "out 3-4 weeks" I'm a bit concerned

Wouldn't mind it if Bray got DLd. He looks completely lost to me.

Could be one of three things as I see it.

    1. Votto on DL, Redmond takes his spot (13 pitchers) for one or two days.

    2. Cueto can't go tonight, Redmond will be needed to start or backup Lecure.

    3. Bray being cut or DL'd after last night, Redmond filling in as long man, ultimately to be replaced by Hoover. (Reds need for long man short term, due to Simon's long stint yesterday.)

Wonder why not bring up Hoover to begin with? He could start or relieve.

I feel like these kinds of moves often come down to who's on schedule.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Hoover has been working short relief, probably isn't stretched out for a long stint.

Redmond could be a one game backstop in case Cueto's blister is a problem. Redmond is a starter who is better able to pitch, say, 3-4 innings.

My guess is that Redmond is coming up for a short stay, to be replaced soon after by Hoover or someone else.

That's my fear too. Kearns had a "blister" that required surgery.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

I always though kearns had a hole in his hand? Well that and Ray King sat on him at home plate.

My thought on Sat night when I heard about Cueto's blister was "will two days be enough"? My guess is he needs about a week off

    Re: Todd Redmond?

I hope if there is any doubt they go ahead and hold Cueto back. No need to risk losing him for a month.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.
