And looking at his three year stats, he's a low OBP guy with no power. Good grief.

I think people were looking at the improvement he's made this year in terms of OBP. Just guessing.

People are hoping his AAA stats are reflective of some improvement in his game, I think. Historically Paul is not a very good ML hitter or OBP guy. Hey, he is a lefty though.

So, in one game, Paul has already done more than token lefty 25th men Mike Costanzo and Willie Harris combined this season. Paul is a long shot to be successful at this point, but I always was intrigued by his potential when he was coming up with LA. A lefty bat who isn't a complete waste who can play defense and run, I'd say the Reds need to consider hanging on to him when Votto returns. That may mean a phantom DL stint for Miguel Cairo.

Of course, if the Reds could pick up a Kotsay or some one of that ilk, Paul may need to go anyway.

Really nice game by Paul last night. I want to see another start. In CF. Not LF. Luddy's hot. Dusty needs to get over the Stubbs love.

I'd say Stubbs can start again. Let's use Paul for what he is, LH bat off the bench, and an occasional start.

Can he play 1b? Obviously Rolen needs time off, I feel like he's destined for more shoulder injury unless Dusty limits his playing time much more than he currently is (though Votto's injury may play a role in what his post all star break plan was)

It would be a shame if he couldn't. Just seems that guys like Ludwick and especially Paul should have taken some practice at 1b sometime along the way during their struggles. Would be nice to have the option of using Frasier at 3b when Rolen sits and not automatically having to turn to Cairo.

While I agree with you, the Reds don't win last night without Stubbs.

I doubt it. Xavier is only 5'9". You don't see players that short playing 1B in MLB.

Paul has played a part in the last 2 wins. When Joey come back Id like for Paul to stay. Has some speed and swings a decent bat. Nice role player to have. Hes certainly earning his paychecks right now. I also wouldnt mind Dusty trying him in the leadoff spot.

He may be the lead off hitter we need. Or maybe not. So far I am impressed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Reds dfa Cairo when a trade is made or Votto comes back. You need Valdez, who has been playing okay lately, as an MI backup, and Paul az a lefty bat on the bench. It even seems that Dusty has given up on Cairo.

Frazier essentially makes Cairo redundant. Plus Todd can play the outfield if needed.

However, does anyone else think Cairo may have a future in the organization as a coach?
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.
