Cingrani and Hamilton to the Fish for Giancarlo Stanton...

Arroyo to the Yanks for two prospects the Cubs want for Dempster...

    Who becomes the fifth starter?

If the Reds could pull this off (which I seriously doubt) and needed a 5th starter, I would say it would be Todd Redmond (if they didn't move Aroldis to the rotation). Billy Hamilton and Tony Cingrani could probably land several very good major leaguers, but I don't think Stanton is one of them. I think the Fish would demand at least twice that. It might land Upton.

I don't think Walt will aim that high though and don't see Hamilton (especially, Corcino or Cingrani going anywhere. I think Billy Hamilton is being penciled in as the Reds leadoff hitter sometime between a year from now and ST 2014 and Corcino and Cingrani are expected to fight it out for Arroyo's spot after he leaves following next season.

I think he means Dempster to be the 5th if I'm reading it right.

    Yes..

two #1's leading the charge into the playoffs. #4 back between Votto and Bruce.

Lead off is the only position left to fix.

Taking away Hamilton and Cingrani, what 2 prospects do you think Theo would want in return for Dempster?

I assume everyone saw the tweets last night, I think from McAlister of all people, which confirmed the Reds skipped Cingrani to help manage his workload/innings etc. He pitched 51 last year, and is already at 101 this year.

    He's otherwise fine.

And...in my opinion...good on the Reds.

That's quite a jump in IP, scary. Keep an eye out for the Verducci effect next season (He and Homer).

Don't forget his 57 IP at Rice last season.

If you add those to his IP as a professional, he's right around 110 IP.

That likely means he's okay until about Inning 140 or 150.

Bailey threw 162 innings last year, and has already thrown 200 innings in a season (2009).
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

You must be counting minor league innings then right? I guess I forgot to include those.

    Re: Cingrani Skipped

Cingrani is scheduled to go tonight.

Castellini, Jocketty, and Bavasi are all scheduled to be there to see him.

There are reports of a major announcement (ie affiliate extension) to be made.

Is it possible they could make another "announcement" if they like or don't like what they see in the game?
