2 home runs by Gregorius already in AAA. Obviously a small sample size, but that's nice to see.

LaMarre hits a home run for his second hit of the game and his 100th hit of the year with the Blue Wahoos!

Man, Rodriguez has been swinging a hot bat. .370 in his last 10-- and that's with two 0 fers in the middle thrown in. Two stolen bases in his last two games too.

    Showcasing his speed, perhaps?

Sulbaran had a nice start for Pensacola: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K. Hayes and Ravin (I think I like him in relief) have thrown scoreless innings. Blue Hoos lead 4-2 after 7.

Kyle Waldrop had three hits, and that's the best you can say for Dayton tonight. Dragons get whupped 9-1. Wes Mugarian took the loss.

Robert Stephenson is on his game tonight: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K. Billings leads 3-1.

Brandon Dailey, hitting a very quiet .340, is 2-3 batting in Jesse Winker's familiar 2-hole. Winker, also hitting .340, has been moved to third.

For Bakersfield, Steve Selsky delivers a two-run single in the top of the first.

Sean Lucas, who had been very good, relieved Stephenson in the 6th and swiftly coughed up 4 runs. Billings trails 5-3.

A HR by Niko Vasquez puts Bakersfield up 3-1 in the third. Tim Crabbe's pitching.

Justin Freeman gets a 1.2-inning save and Pensacola prevails 4-2. LaMarre (HR) and Brodie Greene each had two hits. Sulbaran actually had a triple. Lutz and Bryson Smith doubled.

Stephenson's frisky good start to his career at Billings really puts a spring in my step.

Even better? That he can do so with very little pressure, as the Reds have quality arms already in line in AA. No reason to hope he moves quickly etc., he can develop at a nice normal pace.

I feel the same way. And not only is no one at risk of being rushed in the minors, but with the exception of Arroyo, everyone in the rotation is under team control through the end of the 2014 season. And even then, only Homer Bailey is due for free agency. If Chapman takes Arroyo's spot, you have more than two seasons to figure out whether Tony Cingrani, Dan Corcino, Kyle Lotzkar, Todd Redmond, J.C. Sulbaran, or Pedro Villarreal can help you--and that's before you even start looking at the lower minors where some guys are already impressing.
