Without looking at any stats, Valdez seems to do better with men on base. Nice hit there, served out to right field.

His 10th RBI of the year. Hanigan had 11 and Mes has 14.

Wow....great catch by Kelch. He was commenting on Hart's placement holding Valdez on and it immediately bites them in the butt. Ball gets by him, Valdez to third.

I'm glad Janish has an opportunity with the Braves. Always thought he played hard and was a good defender.

Valdez can do more things. Runs better, more versatile, little better hitter. Glad the Reds have him as the backup middle infielder.

Bruce hits into the shift to end the inning.

    2-1 Reds after 3.

bold prediction: Bruce will hit a HR today.

Bruce's hard grounder could very well have been a hit if the fielders hadn't been in the shift. I wonder how many BA points he's lost due to the shift this year?

The few times that I've actually seen Valdez get the opportunity to play, I've thought that he did pretty well.

And, it looked to me that Chris was out too, but so what. How many times has a Reds player been on the opposite end of a bad call?

    Go Reds! Congrats Barry!

Probably sacrilege to say this here, but it makes me sick that Ron Santo couldn't get inducted while he was living.

For those who want to see Larkin, Santo's widow is going to speak first, then Barry.
