Hanigan's average keeps dropping, but OBP keeps rising. Walks.

I was hoping to get to a game this series, just doesn't look like it's gonna happen though. Just too busy with work & the kids. Next series...definitely.

Evan Meek will face Soto, new pitcher up from Indy. Campagno pinch running for Soriano on third, 2 down. Kid hits 92-93 on the gun, flat fastball, not much movement, decent slider. Walks Soto on 6 pitches. Now men on the corners.

Surprising the downturn Meek has taken. He was money a couple of years ago.

Bloop double to left for Gonzalez. Just bad luck. He barely hit the ball but it falls in.

Re: 7/23/12 - Reds at Astros

Everything Latos is throwing is up in the zone. I can't remember a single ground ball he's thrown tonight except in the first inning.
Sabermetrics is this: A batter's goal is to extend the inning. Extend enough innings and you're going to score runs. Extend more innings than your opponent and you're going to score more runs than him.

Forget the rain. It's never an official game until the Reds piss away a run between third base and home plate. - Bluegrass Redleg

His plant foot slipped when he delivered that pitch. Brantley saw it apparently.

Re: 7/23/12 - Reds at Astros

    not good
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."
