There are 3 guarantees in life; death, taxes, and the leadoff walk coming around to score.

The Mariners are hosting the Yankees the next few games.

This will be an extremely crazy feeling for Ichiro and all Mariners fans.

    Crazy.

I was about to get on here last night and suggest that the Reds try to trade for him.

Just think: there must be a ton of casual baseball fans who will arrive at Safeco not even aware of the trade. Think of how many kids are going to be heartbroken.

Actually it kinda makes me sad.

It's the kind of move that will make a young person have some angst against an organization/owner. In a similar situation, I remember kids being very upset when Sean Casey was traded after he had been named team captain.

This is why when a guy tries to get max money I don't blame them. Guys like Ichiro need to retire with the team they started with. There is no loyalty in sports.

He could have vetoed the trade if he wanted to.

This makes it very odd... simply walking over to the other dugout before the game

He wanted out of Seattle. He said he knew the Mariners were trying to rebuild and that basically he wanted to get out so they could do that. I'm sure he probably wants a ring as well.

Not good for us haters of the Evil Empire. Gardiner must be out for the year. Hopefully Yankees don't have enough pitching. Not good.

Also good marketing move for NY. Lots of Asians in NY who love baseball and who will go to the stadium to see this fellow. As happened with Godzilla and Wang.
