With us winning, I guess it's a good thing that we can afford to keep everyone fresh. It's a long hot summer. And Valdez has been hitting better as he's started more.

Is this Ludwick's first clean up appearance?

The way Bailey has been pitching and with the Astros horrid lineup, im thinking 2 or 3 runs wins this thing for us.
During my 18 years I came to bat almost 10,000 times. I struck out about 1,700 times and walked maybe 1,800 times. You figure a ballplayer will average about 500 at bats a season. That means I played seven years without ever hitting the ball. ~Mickey Mantle, 1970

Phillips has really come up big since Votto went out. My admiration for Phillips as a player has increased watching him lead this team (as I believe he has) after the injury.

Overall, Phillips is an enormously underrated player in major league baseball. Leaving him off the All Star Team, for whatever reason, was a joke.

Take a rest, Brandon, but don't go too far away. We may need you later in the game.

I know he needs a rest but the way BP has been hitting I hate to see him out of the game. I guess sitting against the Astros is the best timing though.

Am I the only one actually kinda saddened by the lack of Xavier Paul?
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

How in the world does Ludwick hit ahead of Valdez?

How in the world does Bruce hit in the 3 spot when he's been as cold as the Coke Polar Bear? Frazier would eb a better pick. Oh well, Dusty's been winning games with his lineups

Homer always pitches well in Texas. He has yet to lose to the Astros. His ERA is under 2 IIRC.

Stubbs, Frazier & Mes...all going yard tonight...book it. I'm not going to fail to call it like KC last night.
