    Minor League Updates: Tuesday 5/14/2013

Louisville brought the lumber tonight, pounding out 14 hits in an 8-7 win over Charlotte.

Arms - Pedro Villarreal was roughed up tonight: 5IP 7H 5R 5ER 1BB 6K 2HR. Curtis Partch and Jose Arredondo were ineffective in relief. Kevin Whelan and Yohan Pino came on late to secure the victory.

Bats - Last night it was the top of the lineup; tonight it was the bottom.
Emmanuel Burriss had three singles in five trips to the plate.
Nevin Ashley was 4 for 4 with two singles, a double and a roundtripper.
Kris Negron was 2 for 3, a single, a double and a walk.
Mike Hessman blasted out his 8th home run of the season.
Felix Perez was 2-5, two doubles.

    Louisville 8 Charlotte 7.

Dayton stung the ball as well, finishing with six runs on 13 hits. The end result was a 6-2 win over West Michigan.

Arms - Johnny Cueto was solid in his five innings on the mound, allowing 3 hits and striking out four. No walks and no runs given up.
Jesus Adames tacked on two innings of one-hit shutout baseball.
Sean Lucas pitched 1.2 innings and struck out five. He also allowed three hits, walked two and surrendered both runs.

Bats - Beau Amaral, Joe Hudson and Seth Mejias-Brean each stroked a pair of singles. Jesse Winker also had two hits. But Winker went large. A double and a home run. Robert Ramirez also had two safeties, a single and a blast.

    Winker's current line is .303/.401/.485/.886.

    Dayton 6 West Michigan 2.

Pensacola and Chattanooga are playing some free baseball. In a continuing theme tonight, the Blue Fish are hammering the horsehide. They jumped out to a 5-zip lead in the first and then watched that evaporate. Pensacola had to score two in the bottom of the ninth to send it into extras - back-to-back jacks by LaMarre and Mattair.

Arms - Daniel Renken pitched uninspired baseball, giving up 6 runs in five plus innings of work. Kyle Lotzkar came on and looks like a candidate for extended spring training. In one-third of an inning he gave up a hit, two runs, and walked three. His ERA now stands at 11.88. The relief pitching has been pretty solid after Lotzkar. Manno, Ravin, Hyde, Ellis and Van Mil have pitched well collectively.

Bats - Bryson Smith has singled and doubled. Ryan LaMarre has singled, homered and walked. Travis Mattair has homered, walked twice and scored four runs. Devin Lohman has singled, homered and walked, while driving home five. He had a first-inning salami.

Pensacola has a runner on first with one out in the bottom of the 11th, scored tied at 9. Heading into the 13th. Still 9-9.

Cueto earned the win in his second rehab start, and is now 9-1 in his history of pitching for the Dragons. According to the Dayton Dragons website, after he exited the game, he threw 30 more pitches in the bullpen. Looking good for the return to the Reds.

Regarding that Blue Wahoos game, it is now final in 13, with a final score of 10-9.

Yes, The Durango Kid scores the winning run in the bottom of the 13th for Pensacola. He walks, scoots around to third on Bryson Smith's third hit on the night and then scores on a wild pitch. 10-9 Pensacola.

Perfect night for the Reds' organization.
