James Walczak comes on to pitch the top of the 7th and surrenders the lead on a leadoff HR. Bakersfield now trails, batting in the bottom of the 7th.

The AZL Reds with a big 5-run, but fall 11-9 to the AZL Dodgers.

    Top of 9th:

Reynoso with a leadoff walk, Arias HBP, Adam Matthews singles in Reynoso, Humberto Valor walked to load the bases, Arias scores on a WP and Tanner Rahier hit a 3-run HR (His fourth). Big knock for Tanner - he needed it.

    Adam Matthews 3-5, R, RBI
    Humberto Valor 0-2, R, 2 BB
Tanner Rahier 1-4, R, HR, 3 RBI, BB
    Jimmy Lopez 1-5, 2B
    Avian Rachal 1-4, BB
Argenis Aldazoro 1-4, R, HR, RBI
    Jonathan Reynoso 1-2, 2 R, 2 BB
    Daniel Paula 1-4, R
    Brayan Arias 2-3, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, HBP

Not much in the way of pitching highlights

Stockton-Bakersfield has truly turned into a seesaw affair with two runs on the 2nd 2-run HR Walczak has surrednered in his two innings of work. Stockton now leads 7-6 with the Blaze batting in the bottom of the 8th.

The Blaze have now tied it at 7, Bowe singles to leadoff, Hunt singles him to third and Bowe scores on a PB. Going to the 9th. Blaine Howell on to pitch.

The pattern continues. Howell walks a batter, J's the next one and then allows a on-eout double. Nico Vazquez cuts the go-ahead run down at the plate but then Nico allows a two-out run rto scores when he boots the next groundball. Howell then allows a run-scoring double and issues an iBB to load them up with two outs. Nico throws out the next runner, but the damage is done. The Blaze trail 9-7 going to the bottom of the 9th.

    Stephen Hunt 3-4, 2 2B, BB
    Travis Mattair -3, R, RBI, 2 BB
    Steve Selsky 2-3, 2 R, 2B, HR, RBI, 2 BB (Now hitting .341)

Didn't Bailey's VELO drop when the Reds adjusted his motion to hold the occasional base runner?

Meijas-Brean has 4 more pro homers in 79 PAs than he hit all season in NCAA (268 PAs).
Attended 1976 World Series in my Mother's Womb. Attended 1990 World Series Game 2 as a 13 year old. Want to take my son to a a World Series Game in Cincinnati in my lifetime.

He only hit two in his entire three year starting career in Arizona. He has 5 in a handful of games in Billings. He supposedly put on batting practice shows, but just couldn't do it in the games.

Selsky's old for the league, but this is only his second year in pro ball. For his career (122 G, 534 ABs), his line-- .305/ .374/ .513/ .886-- is promising. His K rate in Baksersfied is less than 20% and his BB rate is over 10%. A 23-year-old in A+ is not usually someone to get excited about, but he could be a sleeper moving forward.

Too bad LaMarre or Felhauer hasn't caught fire to be moved up to AAA because Selky deserves to move up as well. Might eventually be a solid fourth OF type. Perhaps more. (Similar to Bryson Smith, actually, as a late-round college draftee.)
