Great to get three in the first.

That way, it doesn't feel so bad giving up five in the second.

Hope Phillips is ok. Couple of shots hit back at him that inning he didn't knock down.

Those were shots, not criticizing Brandon, but hope he is ok after the cramps yesterday.

Stubbs grounds out to Volquez. 5-3 Padres after 2.

I hope EV doesn't settle in like he did in SD.

With the Reds, I remember several times it appeared V had settled down. Then something goes off track later in the game.

Reds just need some good relief pitching here to stay close.

    Let's go Simon.

They are calling Grandal's injury an injured side so basically an oblique

    Alonso gets his 27th double.

Of the season, not of this game.

May just not be our night. Still plenty of time though.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Two men on now. Ump has a tight zone IMO.

There is an out on a first pitch fly out to center.
