Pensacola lost game one.
Cingrani has given up one run in 4 innings in the nightcap. Run scored on a wild pitch.
A H-Bomb by H-Rod puts the Bats in front 6-5.
Ahem. Updates?
DAnny Dorn sighting, playing for Toledo. 3 for 6 tonight playing 1b.
Well, I see we're all distracted tonight.
Louisville lost 10-9 in 11. The Bats went ahead in the top of the inning, but Texeira and Joseph were unable to hold the lead. Brett Tomko returned to action and gave up 5 runs in 6 IP.
H-Rod and Puckett homered. Two hits for Phipps, H-Rod, Costanzo, Puckett, Perez (2 doubles) and Corky.
Pensacola also lost the nightcap, 3-2.
Cingrani: 4 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K.
Fleury homered. Hamilton went 0-4.
Dayton was hammered, 11-2. Jacob Johnson, struggling lately, wasn't as bad as the score would indicate: 6 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K. Cole Green and Lucas O'Rear had bigger issues.
Joe Terry homered for the Dayton highlight.
Billings pounded out 16 hits in a 9-4 win. Brandon Dailey (.342) and Seth Mejias-Brean (.395) each had three of them. Carlos Sanchez and Matt Lentz tripled. Sanchez, Winker (.345), Robert Ramirez and Wagner Gomez all had a couple hits.
Jose Amezcua started and gave up just one run in 5 IP.
Nick Masset started and threw one scoreless inning (2 K) for the Baby Reds, who trail 5-1 after eight. Pedro Diaz followed with four less distinguished frames, and Vaughn Covington with one more of the same. Argenis Aldazoro has a triple.
As far as 18 year olds go, Winker is absurdly good at baseball.
Wasn't the scouting report that power shouldn't be an issue- I thought his defense was the question.
Along those lines, what does Seth Mejias-Brean have to do to get a promotion to Dayton- especially when their 3B Junior Arias is struggling so badly. SMB's OPS is a Votto-esque 1.146
At the same time, Gelalich has really cooled off in Billings, which is disappointing considering he should be quite advanced for the level (as a sandwich pick from a big time college program).
Go BLUE!!!
Winker was said to have some power. Billings and the Pioneer League in general is a launching pad though and he has an IsoP of .115. He is just 18, but it isn't like pitchers are doing something to keep him from hitting the ball given that he is hitting .345. His swing does suggest power could come. But that doesn't always mean it will.
Ismael Guillon is another guy that looks ready for his promotion to Dayton after spending the past three seasons in Rookie Ball. He is still only 20 years old.
Go BLUE!!!
