I certainly feel more comfortable with Broxton than I ever did with Ondrusek.

“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

People were saying he'd lost velocity and was starting to get it back recently, due to age/injury etc..,
Regardless I love those ground balls in GABP combined with the Reds' defense, smart pick-up to improve the team when nothing else was really an option, and your offense forces you to protect a lot of 1-2 run games/leads. Broxton looks very solid.
Theres a difference though. Broxton is known to have done the role already, he has a track record. You never can tell who or how someone makes that jump. Ryan Wagner comes to mind. I'll take a more known quality (Broxton) over someone trying to make a name for themselves in a high pressure pennant run.

I can see that argument, but when I look at what Broxton has done this year, his peripherals don't really inspire confidence like his name would lead you to believe. Nothing but his ERA suggests he is any kind of back end reliever. Back end relievers, ideally, should have good walk rates and good strikeout rates. Broxton has neither.
This is true. But he's look good so far, especially control wise. Maybe he just wasn't all-in mentally with a bad franchise like KC? He's coming off an injury, it's been a tough year for the team... maybe Cincinnati will reinvigorate him, along with being further from his surgery.
