Bruce not playing because Wandy is pitching is unbelievably maddening. Whatever.

Bruce IS horrific against Wandy though. And we pounded him in his last start against us with Bruce sitting.

No Votto. No Bruce. No Phillips. There's no reason for the Pirates to lose to us tonight.

...but these are usually the games we win.

Rolen, Frazier and Ludwick is enough. Those three will combine for 7 hits and 5 RBI. We win 6-4.

Keep McCutchen quiet, get a quality start out of Latos, and the good guys should be able to pull it out.

Re: 8/3/12 - Reds vs. Pirates

We had pretty good luck against Wandy last time.
I think Heisey hit him well last time (But maybe I'm thinking of another Heisey start.. )
If Latos gives us a good game, I like our chances.

Bummer that Phillips isn't ready, although with a 3.5 game lead, I don't want them to rush him (or Votto back).

Of course I want to win as many games as possible, but even if we only win 1 of 3, we are not in too bad of shape. (Not predicting that, but there's more pressure on the Pirates than us).

If the control is there for Latos, I think we're golden. If he gets guys on base (McCutchen, Jones) and then faces an Alvarez...he's in trouble.

Really? Bruce is 2 for 29 life time against Wandy. Thats less than .100. (.069 to be exact) And it is maddening that Dusty would sit Bruce because of that?

I don't think I have anticipated a regular season game as much as this one. The suspense is killing me.

If you are correct and the Reds only take one of three from the Pirates, they leave town still trailing by 2.5 games. If the Reds can squeeze two of three, the Pirates will leave town 4.5 back.

Sure I would prefer to take 2 of 3.. but 1 of 3 isn't going to kill us.

The Reds are in a nice position.. The Pirates are coming in with a lot of pressure to take at least 2 in order to gain some ground.

Anyhow, I hope we play the Pirates a lot better than we did earlier this year.
    MAybe I'm a bit nervous .. that's why I'm saying 1/3 would be ok
