Aaron Cook doesn't believe in wind energy

    Unbelievable stat by Baseball Prospectus...

Aaron Cook has thrown 622 pitches this season. Batters have swung and missed at 17 of them.

Is this statistic for a slow pitch beer belly league?

That has to be the explanation.

4 walks and 4 strikeouts in 44.2 innings. That has to be some sort of record.

Right now, his K% is 2.4%.

From 1960-2012 the lowest K% of anyone with at least 40 innings was 3.5% and only three total guys were under 4%.

I think it surprises me more than anything that the Red Sox would ride him that long with those numbers. It shows how desperate they must be at the moment for pitching.

That is kind of like letting them hit off a tee.

The Red Sox don't make sense anymore, taking Franklin Morales out of the rotation so they could leave Cook in it is just one of many ways.

Gotta give the guy credit, tied a season high with 2 more Ks last night, up to 2.8% now. Unfortunately, he also blew away his season high in BBs in a game with 3, now at 6 K/7 BB in 51.2 IP.

Cook has a babip of .250 and a GB% of 61. Are we sure he's not one of those new types of guys that can control the fate of a batted ball?
