2 out of 3 not bad

Well we won the big series against the pirates. We head on the road against Brewers and Cubs, in fact out next 5 series are against sub .500 teams. I'm pumped and love our chances to increase our lead in the division.

Yup, this series pretty much went as I hoped. Latos pitched a gem, Mike was ok(really a victim of bad defense) and the last one was going to be tough with gassed Bailey and the weakened defense. The Reds are to free swinging with Burnett and no Votto/BP.

My goal is to be up about 8 games on Sept 15th and mix and match a lot of rest for everyone involved.

Agreed...but the lack of offense is still a large concern. Very poor discipline at the plate...hitters swinging at way too many bad pitches....still not stringing hits together for runs...too dependent on HR's......this WILL bite us in the playoffs.

Definitely, I'd like to have a lead big enough to rest some of our more important players and have them ready for the postseason.

The problem is, the playoffs are a crapshoot. It is all about who gets hot. They may lack offense, but not for this season.

looking forward to getting back to full strength. some of these guys are going to cool off and when they do Phillips and Votto will come back rested. This could not have played out much better, time to take advantage.

Dangerous to look at the schedule in terms of +/- .500 teams IMO. A lot of teams start playing looser once they're out of it, and they give more opportunities to young players seeking to prove themselves. Reds can't let off the gas.

I agree with that, and I would in no way suggest to lay off the gas. As a fan it makes me feel better to see the cubs, brewers and mets in my upcoming schedule than the nats, giants and dodgers. Especially those dreaded west coast road trips. Never stop trying your hardest, ever, no matter who you play.

No doubt. Glad to have the West Coast in the rearview mirror. Surviving that this season played a big part in the Reds building some momentum.

If we win only 6 games of each 11 (.545) remaining in the season, we'll finish with 96 wins.

Really? In theory it works, but I would rather them be fitting for a playoff spot until the very end. I think it is hard to turn the switch on, when the team has been coasting for a month.

Not for any extended period of time. Just some rest against some weaker teams or if we have a big lead deep into some ballgames.
