    BP K's

2-1 Reds to the bottom of 7

Time to get Marshall/Broxton/Chapman to start thinking about pitching.

Wow...one of the ugliest swings I think I've ever seen. Falling out of the batters box backwards and still swings. Phillips laughing at himself. Sorry Brandon, not funny.

Gomez needs a rude awakening for his display after that HR. An arrogant fling of the bat, a smack of the helmet with left hand as he rounds 2nd, blows a kiss and points to the crowd about 15 feet before touching home... then one more kiss and point after touching home.

Lots of guys have a routine (BP of course), but Gomez crossed the line IMO. Too much.

As the season has worn on, Frazier is looking more and more comfortable at the hot corner. I know some attribute that to Rolen working with him (and I'm sure that certainly can't hurt) but I think more reps is what it's mostly attributed to. I'm still surprised some people kept trying to convince me that his best position was LF.

Hart grounded out to Frazier and Weeks struck out. 7th K for Latos. Two outs in the 7th. Reds still up 2-1.

    1-2-3 for Latos

    2-1 Reds after 7

Keep him in or bring in Broxton?

Latos K's Maldonado to end the 7th.

    7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 8 K, 97 pitches for Latos. I'd send him out for the 8th but pull him if he allows a baserunner.

Hopefully Chapman will pitch to Gomez.

Latos definitely has been looking more like the guy the Reds hoped they'd acquire here in the past several weeks. That's encouraging. I feel really good about Cueto-Latos at the top. I just hope Homer/Leake would be more consistent. Arroyo is what he is at this point, though I don't say that in a bad way.

Latos is just looking great today. Only odd thing I've seen is the high number of breaking balls he's thrown into the dirt in front of home plate. Considerably in front of it.

And yes, I send him back out.

It's a tough call, but I'm with OBM, I think I send Latos back out and pull him if they get somebody on.

I'd take the 7 IP 1 R from Mat and call it a day. Let Brox and Chap finish it.

Can't argue with the contrary however.
