Satirist Stan Freberg dead at age 88

I missed this earlier in the week, but ad writer and satirist, Stan Freberg, passed away this week (frankly he falls into that category of someone I thought had already passed away, although he's only a year or so older than my own dad who is alive and well).

I remember WNOP Radio, who would intersperse comedy bits between the jazz they ordinarily played, would broadcast some of Freberg's bits.

My Grandpa Frank used to talk about Stan Freberg all the time. He liked to sit in his kitchen in Troy until 2 or 3 am and we'd drink beer and wine, listen to classical and jazz music and Stan Freberg, and he'd tell me crazy stories from his youth, growing up in a German Catholic family in Cincinnati. I miss those days.

Grew up on the classic St George and the Dragonet (LOL)
