I'm really trying to have some faith in Jay Bruce, but it's at the end of the rope now. He was on that tear early on in the season, but not much since... Somebody wake his Rip Van Winkle of a bat up!!!!!

Yep. Instead of 2-1, it's 1-2 and Bruce has to chase another one out of the zone on strike 3.

This game is an OBP correction for the Reds. Lots of men on base. No runs so far.
Reminds me of A LOT of games i saw the Reds hit in 1982.....especially April/May/June.

That team actually had #1 BA into June. Yes..i thought BA meant more than it did back then.

Before the year I was ridden pretty hard for saying David Freese was a better hitter than Jay Bruce. Freese has an .843 OPS this year in a more neutral park, and Bruce has an .811 OPS with an OBP about .40 lower.

I like what I've seen from Paul so far in his short stint. Very good eye. Why can't he buy a start in center or right more often?

Bruce has a double tonight. Maybe he'll come around. There's plenty of time for a late season hitting streak.

Bruce has looked overmatched unless he guesses right or gets a mistake pitch. Either he's hiding an injury or he's not what we thought he was going to be.

If this weren't a family oriented site, I might comment on that...
