If his arm was tired he appears to have enough rest now - he was hitting 95 and I think 96 on one pitch, take away that seeing eye single and it was really a good inning

It might just be to get some light work in.

Could be that he didn't pitch last three games, at least. Didn't pitch in Mets series at all. Maybe Dusty wants to keep him active.

Why is Chapman warming up with a 4 run lead?

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

Yep. You can only use him once tomorrow anyway. Might as well use him tonight since he hasn't worked in forever.

Reds 8th: Alberto Cabrera pitching for the Cubs.

Bruce grounds past the pitcher, Barney scoops it to 1st just in time.
    Frazier Ks swinging.
    Rolen Ks swinging.

Cabrera at 10 pitches, 7 strikes.

    After 8 innings, Reds 7, Cubs 3.

My guess is that LeCure would probably be coming in here if not for his soreness.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

I thought Brox threw real well tonight. When he got in trouble, he started to throw hard and struck a guy out. He's not Chapman, but good to see him throwing hard.

Chapman in, hasn't pitched in five days.

Closers don't pitch with a 4-run lead unless the bases are loaded, dude.
