I'll concede this is the second time recently Bruce has showed a fear of the wall (was the other in Huston?). But he has always been aggressive going to his left when there's a wall along the foul line.

O'Neill? Possibly very very comparably as I truly believe Bruce could break out in another organization. Bruce has done a good bit more by his age....but the main difference IMO is the fire that O'Neill played with....Bruce has that talent and maybe beyond....but O'Neill's fire is an important part to a championship team IMO....Votto, Cueto and Latos have it.
O'Neill was the .278 guy who left and the next year hit .358? And won a batting title....very unpredictable IMO.
And when you say Paul O'Neill I immediately think of the most underplayed amazing highlight of all-time.
Tying run on 2nd....1 out...9th inning. A single on the ground right to O'Neill and he charges hard, scoops up the ball, drops it, scoops it again, bobbles it, drops it and as it bounces off the Riverfront turf he kicks it in the air all the way to the cutoff in the IF....but the timing was immaculate...the 3rd base coach saw the charge, glanced to see where his runner was and he missed the bobble/drops but saw the ball in the air headed towards the cutoff and he holds the runner! Lol O'Neill knew too many bobbles cost him the play so he just gets ticked and kicks it....3rd base coach had no idea the ball in the air was kicked and had nothing on it.
Why that isn't on every highlight/blooper show is beyond me.....nothing similar has ever happened.
What would possess a person to kick the ball? I don't know. But it worked out well.

I was asking for people to compare Bruce and O'Neill defensively. I said Bruce should be a great right fielder except for the fact that he has these huge mental lapses like he had today. This guy says i don't know what I'm talking about.
Now I assume we all agree that O'Neill was a "great" right fielder . But I think Bruce is just as good except for the occasional boo boos. Also O'Neill stepped up his game when the money was on the line- see 1990 playoffs. Any disagreements?
My daughter came home with the ball used to warm up Soriano in the 9th inning....guy in the Cubs jersey right in the picture when they showed the LF ball boy stole it for her during Hanigan's GW hit.
I guess every Cubs fan isn't the worst.
