    Dusty handled this correctly.

If Phillips hits for Valdez, then Simon hits ninth and leads off next inning.

    You don't want that result.

This way, Phillips leads off next inning and Simon can stay in the game for the long haul.

Of course, the Reds could lose right here and it wouldn't matter.

The Brandon Phillips thing just topped it off.
They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

    Simon is no Hoover.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Play to win, not to not lose.

Cairo attracts pigeons the way he plays defense.

I'm not seeing a problem with any of those things. At most, they're differences of opinion on how to manage a baseball game. You say potato, I say...

No. The ball was almost a foot to his right. Out of his zone.

Oh well. Get home and get ready for the weekend.

I'd have gladly taken a split when this series began.
