I would like to talk about how awful Wilson Valdez has been. In 158 plate appearances, he has a line of .196/.221/.216 - .437 OPS, and his defense isn't very good either. This guy has no business being on a major league roster, let alone a playoff roster.

    Juan Castro eh?

These guys will never go away, best is to limit their ABs in crap years at the dish, 3% of the teams PAs, ain't much but I'd like to see less of it

That said get used to it, offense is down, you'll probably spend the rest of a decade expecting the offense you grew up with

    Don't hold your breath!

Ditto. Janish would have made more sense, in the first place. I can't imagine Valdez being on next year's roster.

I could stand Valdez getting occasional starts if Dusty didn't insist on batting him 2nd. That is the part that makes literally 0% sense to me.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Agreed. Janish was brutal, but Valdez makes Paul look like a first division starter.

Agreed. I really think Valdez bats 2nd solely for the purpose of bunting the leadoff man over. The problem being, of course, that the leadoff man is seldom on base.

He also bats second so others don't get moved around, many teams (and players) cling to spots in the order and the continuity of it. Really is a player sort of thing, makes many feel comfortable... me not so much.
