I'd like to see a better angle on BP's force out. Looked safe to me.

For all the belly aching about Jay Bruce, the guy is going to end up with 30 + HR and 100 RBI or so. Not bad for a guy making $5 million.
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

One thing he seems unable to do is lay off close pitches. He likes to hack.....but he has been doing it very well, when he does.

Losing to basically a couple of average pitchers. Awesome.

Seriously? two dribblers through the middle by the minor league callup catcher and minor league callup pitcher, and a missed pitch due to a slick mound. Do you seriously think that Cueto just mentally checked out as a very likely explanation there? Is it maybe just possible that this is a random game full of unpredictable craziness that makes us sit there for hours day after day and wonder what's going to happen? Why does it always have to be "inexcusable, mental lapse, get their heads out of their butts?" Can't it just be that sometimes things happen in this game that are unexpected, even when you do the right thing, like get an 8 and 9 hitter to hit weak grounders?

Ok, sorry for the rant, this kind of conclusion just drives me ABSOLUTELY batty.

I don't know. In general, I'm against the idea that it's always the pitcher's fault but I do think Johnny coasted just a bit after those 2 outs in the 5th and it bit him.

I don't remember the LeRud hit, but Cloyd's wasn't a 'dribbler' nor was it particularly weak. It was as much a base hit up the middle as Bruce's was in the 9th. I just think if Johnny had really bored down, he could have gotten Cloyd out. But he didn't. Hey, it happens.

Back home now, took our daughter to the airport in Dayton after the game. I said at the game that I wish Cueto would have had them work on the mound before he did. I think it might have made a difference.

What is it about young pitchers that we make them look like the 2nd coming of Cy Young?
