So glad to have the Phillies in our rear-view mirror for the year. Something about them just makes us crawl up in a little ball. Even in our win last night, we only scored on 1 swing.
On to the Astros, Pirates, Marlins & Cubs.

It is very annoying that we had to face them after they got Howard and Utley back and not before. I would have much preferred to face their Jim Thome/Freddy Galvis lineup.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
No excuse. They have Leake's number.

The Phils have been very good since the All Star break. They're playing good baseball right now. They're not what they once were, but certainly not someone I'd want to play down the stretch.
The one silver lining........Jay Bruce had their number this series.
They won 4 of 7, lets not make it sound like they dominated us.
Brown and Mayberry really killed us. They're coming on pretty well, it seems.
Sorry, but this is the sort of attitude the Lost Decade Reds (and we fans) might have had. I'm in the "it's no big deal" camp. I'm not really sure this year's Reds are quaking in their cleats at the Phillies, although I assume they give them whatever respect they're due. I think we pretty approach everyone like that, don't you think?

MLB's intradivisional schedule really makes zero sense.
The Reds/Phils and Cardinals/Nationals sequencing illustrates the point.
That's all nice and good, and the Reds will clinch the division by pounding those creampuffs (not necessarily the Pirates, but certainly the rest) to smithereens in the next few weeks. But, like 2010, those wins automatically dry up in the first week of October. The playoffs will have teams that much more closely resemble the big, bad, meanie Phillies than the "Astros, Pirates, Marlins & Cubs."
