    BP single
    Heisey infield single
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I agree. I'm somewhat more sympathetic to Leake who has less major league experience. But they both are maddening in their inconsistency.

Back-to-back singles for Phillips and Heisey, giving Baker a reason to believe in his new lineup construction.

For those who think strikeouts are irrelevant.

Heisey just tapped that one and it's a base hit.

    That doesn't happen with a Stubbs K.

Agreed. And I also prefer Leake because of the additional ability to induce grounders more consistently.

4 pitch walk to Votto. Bases juiced.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Yes, but Leake has to pitch that way more frequently.

There are games when Leake isn't quite the ground ball machine.

It's a great skill, but he needs to be more consistent with it.

LOL, one pitcher is bad at home, one is bad on the road. The perfect storm.

And when just making contact ends up a 6-4-3?

Bruce smokes one but it's a line drive out to center.

Bruce hits a liner to center that hangs up for Maxwell. One out, two on.

Welsh: "That's the hardest hit ball this inning, and it's an out."

    Frazier GIDP.

Back to a tie game after 1.
