Dusty has to play Valdez. Who else is going to let game-winning balls roll right inbetween their legs? Only Valdez can offer that kind of promise.

Reds will be playing a man short for the next week or so per Fay's column. And, since Cincinnati's day-to-days always seem to drag on for weeks, who knows how long it will actually be.
Get ready for a whole lof of Valdez, Ugh. Earn your money, Wilson. BRM would be having a field day with this situation. LOL.

Shortstop Zack Cozart had an MRI that determined he has a left oblique strain. The best-case scenario is for Cozart to return sometime next week, Reds manager Dusty Baker said today. It had been thought that Cozart’s back was the problem. (By the Reds' crack medical staff. Surprise!) “It wasn’t his back,” Baker said. “Sometimes pain or injuries, they move. (Injuries move?) It appears one thing and then they come up with something else. He has a slight oblique (strain). He didn’t know until he went and got the MRI.”

In hopes of getting Soft V's bat going I am going to post some negative numbers about him. That usually works.

In his last 51 plate appearances Wilson Valdez has five hits. All Singles. He has drawn no walks. Zero. Zilch. Nada. That works out to this, more than impressive, slash line: .098/.098/.098/.196. His OPS is below the Mendoza Line.

Since he has no batting skills to speak of one might think he would be a pesky hitter, that he would work the pitcher and all that. Wrong. Valdez sees a miserable 3.43 pitches per plate appearance. He also swings at nearly 41% of the pitches that he sees that are outside of the strike zone.

Or maybe The Valley of Valdez. A hitter going poorly will said to be wandering lost and lonely in The Valley of Valdez.
