Despite being a 'doubles machine,' he only hits a double in 6% of his plate appearances. That's not very good odds to gameplan for.

Not one of your better arguments. The double is one possible good outcome with Votto. There are many others. Votto gets hits of all different types, has a huge OBP, great hitter.

Taking the bat out of his hands that inning is a BAD idea.

The percentages say otherwise, KC. The Reds increased their chances of a run in that situation by getting a runner to second base.

The odds of a single or more by Ludwick are greater than the odds of an extra base hit by Votto. You can get out a calculator and find that out for yourself rather easily.

Maybe when Ludwick was hot. But there, I'll give Votto a bat.

I don't know if I trust Broxton here. I'd rather see Hoover in.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Hoover's rep on RedsZone warrants a wing in Cooperstown.

Even this month, Ludwick is getting a hit 24% of the time. That's, statistically, more than twice the odds of Votto getting an extra base hit.

Runner at third, two outs. Broxton vs. Snider.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
