There are so many posts on RedsZone directed to Valdez. They really should be directed to the REGULAR players who have fallen into September swoons so far.

Funny thing is the only game the Reds won this weekend, Valdez got a key hit, albeit a swinging bunt, but it produced two runs. And he fouled off a gazillion pitches, a very fine at bat in a key spot.

Valdez is what he is, a versatile backup player who can't hit. More of the guys who CAN hit need to do so.
    This is a nice post.

Valdez is likely our best alternative at SS with Cozart out.

    Such as it is.

First batter flies out to left. Forgot the guy's name. Now Presley up and singles.

McCutchen gets ahead 3-0. Swings away and misses, 3-1 count.

    McCutchen walks, two on.

I'm not doing PBP, I'm bad luck.

Bucs don't score. That much I can say.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking... I've got the Bengals game on and Reds game updating via Yahoo.

Heisey might have swung at ball four there, long fly out.

Wandy half way to the dugout, called ball three to Votto.

How close was the fly out for Votto? Yahoo says "Deep Left Center"

It was to the warning track. Earlier in the year he probably would have hit it out.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Balls typically travel better later in the summer, although the 'peak' is probably July and August, admittedly.

Nonetheless, I suppose it depends on the weather on that given day.

Hell of a grab by Phillips there.
    Is it "next season" yet?

Bottom two, no score, amazing play by Phillips, as Gizmo said.
