    Since Votto's return to the lineup

    The Good (or at least acceptable):
    Ryan Hanigan: .429/.500/.571
    Joey Votto: .333/.565/.400
    Chris Heisey: .300/.333/.550
    Jay Bruce: .350/.409/.850
    Dioner Navarro: .364/.364/.545

    The Bad:
    Brandon Phillips: .190/.292/.333
    Todd Frazier: .158/.273/.158

    The Ugly:
    Drew Stubbs: .000/.250/.000
    Wilson Valdez: .111/.111/.111
    Ryan Ludwick: .118/.211/.118
    Team: .224/.302/.349

    The offense is on vacation right now. Frustrating to watch. And in the meantime, Cueto seems to have lost his way, AC is struggling to find the zone and struggling to get people out. If we were headed to the postseason right now we'd be in a boatload of trouble. Fortunately we have a few weeks to right the ship. And fortunately we have a big lead. But right now, this team is painful to watch.

    It happens at times during a season. Every team, good and bad, has those funks. The key is to hold them to somewhat short periods of time. If I remember right, the 1990 team didn't play very well closing out the year.
    ...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

    I can handle hot streaks and slumps. What I can't handle is Dusty not recognizing them and adjusting the lineup accordingly.

    You mean like playing Heisey over Stubbs?

    3-4 in this slump. I think guys have hit the wall, clinching then the playoffs will reinvigorate a lot of folks. Chapman shouldn't pitch for a week if he's not hurt.

    Anyone could have predicted the new leadoff hitter would turn into Patterson's ghost, likewise would Heisey hit so well because he's protected by Votto. These are realities that should not be challenged after all this time. The Reds are the Reds.

    And now the team has won it's last two, gone 5-5 in its last ten and gained ground over both STL (1 game) and PIT (3 games) during that stretch. Oh and running away with second best record behind only nats and have the smallest magic number in majors.

    I'd say we are OK.

    Phillips has been solid and pretty consistent all season. Im not so worried about him. Where has Luddy's power gone though? Seems like forever and a day since he hit a homer. Also I figured Frazier would cool off a bit. Like some of you said earlier its better to get this over at the beginning of the month. I feel like this lineup will take off again and right in time for Oct. to start.

    Clearly, Joey Votto needs to be benched.
