Hanigan singles to left.
Good bunt as usual by Cueto.
Phillips strikes out swinging.
Valdez singles to left. 3-1 Marlins. Valdez's 2nd hit tonight.
Wilson with an RBI single to left scoring the slow moving Hanigan nonetheless. What are the odds
Votto grounds out to 2nd. 3-1 Marlins mid 3rd.
Votto, Ludwick and Bruce could learn a thing or two from Valdez.
Wilson Valdez providing for the only signs of life in the offense right now.
Dec. 21 can't get here fast enough.
"No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference." ~Tommy Lasorda
Reyes pops out to 3rd.
If you think about it, that first inning wasn't even that rough. Cueto got a ground ball, then a dink over Valdez, then a guy who's going to hit mistakes hard hit a mistake hard. After that he got a fly ball and an easy out to end the inning.
I'm with Kelch though, in wondering why Cueto is gassing it up there in the first few innings. Something is playing on his mind.
Sabermetrics can be boiled down to this simple truism: A batter's goal is to extend the inning. Extend enough innings and you're going to score runs. Extend more innings than your opponent and you're going to score more runs than him.
Stanton singles to left.
Lee pops out to 2nd.
Hanigan nails Stanton at 2nd. 3-1 Marlins after 3.
Terrific throw by Hanigan
