Getting terrible, then getting top draft choices and opening lots of money to sign free agents is a perfectly legitimate way to build a ball club.

Remember the "tear it down" threads around here?

New ownership for the Stros, tore it down, then will have the money and draft position to improve dramatically as they head to the A.L. No problem with it at all.

"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

The worst part of this is that it's going to probably cost Cueto the last remaining chance he had at 20 wins.

Nice to see Cueto cruising the last couple of innings. He only needs 14 more scoreless innings before this lineup generates a run for him.
